Oh Blogger, Where Art Thou?

Missing. House blogger.

Winter blues. Not a computer fan. Procrastinates. Head is full. Lots of decisions. Excuses.

Go ahead and just pick one of the above. You would be right. To go into any of the above excuses would be another whole blog genre. And we are here to check on the house progress. Ready? Here we go.

This next sentence is a true understatement. SO much has happened since I last blogged. I won't bore you with all the pics of electrical, hvac, drywall, brick masons. I will say that each one of those were a fascinating process to watch.  My least favorite was the drywall. Although I enjoyed how it changed everything, I apparently have huge issues with dust. That white stuff gets everywhere. Not a fan. So, . . . . brick is complete. It's awesome & I love the color we picked.

You are looking into the kitchen area here. I loved this color, but once the cabinets went up, I changed my mind. AGAIN. I picked out a green, but it went up an almost golden color and the cabinets are cream color so they didn't pop at all. Will go for a greener green.

We have most everything painted now except for the trim & moulding. And of course I will be repainting the kitchen.  I have come to realize that picking out paint colors is a gift that some people are given. I did not receive that gift, nor do I care to attain the gift. Those few paint samples you see is about 4 of 15 samples I had on the walls. It literally hurt my head. I finally brought in some friends (paint gurus) who figured it out in about an hour. Enjoy the following pics of the kitchen cabinets.

I'm quite pleased with how the kitchen it turning out. I love my creamy white cabinets with their oil rubbed bronze pulls. My granite is glorious, but it has a nice dusting of dust. You can't really see how big the island is at the moment, but it is 8 feet long. I LOVE it!! Next are a few pics of the bathrooms.

When you come to visit, this will be your guest bathroom. As you will see, I am a lover of green. These are not true visuals of the colors because of camera/lighting, but this room is close to true. I decided to use stained wood cabinets in here since I have white cabinets everywhere else.

This is our master bathroom. White cabinets with uba tuba granite. I just enjoy saying uba tuba.

This is the powder room. About a year ago, I found this little furniture piece in a consignment store. I had no idea at the time what I would use it for, but decided to make a sink vanity out of it. Doug reconfigured the bottom drawer so the plumbing would fit. Our kitchen guys are cutting a piece of granite for this and adding a sink we found for $5.00. I used chalk paint and did some slight distressing & was so pleased at how it turned out. Spray painted the knobs with oil rubbed bronze. Tickled pink with this!!!

Laundry room. I'm pretty sure this is going to be my favorite room when its done. We found these mismatched cabinets at Habitat. We have since painted them white. I want to add some bead board to the door panels. They look awesome. I painted this room a pretty light blue and it has a black & white ceramic floor. I can't wait to show you a picture of it. There are no lights yet, so I have not been able to get a good picture. Doug has been putting in all the ceramic tile himself. I have been quite amazed at how precise it is. He says he loves doing tile. My theory is that he loves doing puzzles and this is nothing more than a really giant size puzzle for him. Whatever it is, he is GOOD at it.

And just because . . .  here is what I'm most looking forward to this spring & summer.

With a little boy named Tyler thrown in the mix.

This is my favorite view!!

I promise to be back soon. I promise!

  5. It looks great! We went through this 27 years ago. You know you've got a strong marriage if you make it through building a house, especially finishing the inside, lol. Seriously, you and Doug deserve it. I pray that you get to enjoy it for many years.
