Writing on the Walls

We knew we wanted to do this before we ever started building. The inspiration for this was from the scripture  Duet. 6. Where God tells His chosen ones to remember His laws & promises. Repeat them over & over again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home & when you go to bed & when you get up. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. So we decided to do this to symbolically remember what He has given us. That all this has come from Him. That we will always remember who He is for us. Our champion. Our Saviour. Our Redeemer. Our Restorer.

The people you see in these pics are some of our dearest & closest friends, along with our children & grandchildren. We have been journeying with them for more than 25 years. We asked them to bring scriptures & quotes that meant something to them and add them to our walls. And of course, we laughed & cried together. As we ALWAYS do. To my friends: Doug & I love you with our whole heart. Thank you for always being there and thank you for being so happy for us.

Welcome to the inside of our home.

And of course, we never get together without eating. Hello!

This is our great room and the kitchen is to the right.
Check out those
back windows! LOVE

Yep. That's my boyfriend. Builder of dreams.

For the first time since this building process . . . it now felt like home. There was cement, wood, & nails. All the necessary things to build. But now it had Spirit. There was laughter, words of encouragement, tears of joy, purpose, & LIFE. I am so humbled by God's goodness. His faithfulness. His gifts.
Doug & I went back the next day by ourselves. It took us almost an hour to read everything they had written. We found words in places and said, 'how the heck did they reach that?' It was a beautiful thing to see.

Here are some of their words:

Every room was written in. Overwhelming. These words will forever be in our walls. This is why I wanted to document this build. In a few weeks they will be covered up by drywall, but they will forever be written on the inside of this home. Forever in our hearts. Thank you, my friends, for the life you bring our lives.
